Azerbaijan has cracked absolute record on participation in international road carriages for 2012

Baku, Fineko/ The Association of International Road Carriers of Azerbaijan (ABADA) has achieved an absolute record on activity of its members in international transportation of goods.

ABADA chairman Tofig Nurullayev says that in 2012 it was sold 11,300 books of international road transport participants (carnet TIR) among the Associations members.

"Earlier, we have never managed to achieve such targets. Record sales volumes of carnet TIR made possible due to a sharp increase in the rolling stock by our members. During the year their fleet grew by 300 vehicles and reached 1,040 trucks. At that, despite the phenomenal growth of the country, the structure of carriages by our members did not change. First of all, they serve seasonal goods (fruits and vegetables), and there is no progress with general cargo so far," Nurullayev said.

In 2013, ABADA will celebrate 20 years since the time of its establishment.

"Well try to obtain our achievements of 2012 would not be below next year," Nurullayev said.

The demand for carnet TIR books remained high for all the four quarters of 2012.

It was sold 2,200 books in the 1st quarter, 2,300 ones in 2nd quarter, 3,443 ones in the 3rd quarter, and 3,357 ones in the 4th quarter.

In 2011 about 9,200 carnet TIR books were sold against 7,800 books in 2010. That is higher than before the crisis 2008 when ADABA first managed to spread 9,000 books among the members.

ABADA sold 7,900 carnet TIR books in 2009, 9,000 ones in 2008, 7,000 in 2007, a little over 5,000 in 2006.
