Transport services volume in Azerbaijan observed rose by 2.9%

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. In January haulage companies and individual cargo carriers in Azerbaijan rendered services for AZN 214.3 million that is by 2.9% more versus the 2011 same term. Last year , transport services were rendered for AZN 2.464 bn (-0.8%), in 2010- AZN 3.7 bn (+4.5%).

The Azerbaijan State Statistics Committee (ASSC) informs that for January cargo transportation reached 16.4 million tons of cargo that exceeds the 2011 same term figure by 3.6%. In 2011, cargo carriages totaled 203.5 million tons (+3.6%), in 2010- 196.3 million tons (+ 3.1%).

Fore the reported period the largest volume of cargo (47.2%) was transported by road, 33% via pipelines, 11.9% by rail, and 7.3% by sea. The share of freight carried by the private sector (a rise of 4.6%) amounted to 69.2%.

It was carried 114.6 million of passengers for the reported term that is by 8.3% more against the 2011 same term. The figure was 1.5 bn people in 2011 (+7.5%), 1.4 bn people in 2010 (+4.5% against 2009).

For the reported period cargo traffic by rail reached 2 million tons versus 22.1 million in 2011 and 22.3 million tons (+6.6%) in 2010.

Maritime transport shipped 1.2 million tons (+12%) of cargo. At that, 61.6% of cargo fell on the share of oil and 38.4% on dry cargo.

In 2011 transportation made 12.5 million tons (+6.7%) of cargo against 11.7 million tons (-11.2%) in 2010 and 13.2 million tons of oil (+10.1%) in 2009.

At that, 57.9% (75%) of cargo fell on the share of oil and 42.1% (25%) on dry cargo.

Over the reported term 7.8 million tons of cargo (+7.2%) and 98.8 million passengers (+8.8%) were carried by road versus 109.8 million tons (+9.9%) and 1.3 bn passengers (+8.7%) in 2011 and 99.9 million tons cargo (+6%) and 1.2 bn passengers (+7.7%) in 2010.

The 105.700 passengers (+22.9%) were carried by air for the reported period versus 1.4 million ones (+37.1%) in 2011 and 1 million passengers in 2010. At that, 98.5% of passengers were carried by state airlines and 1.5% by private ones.

Transportation via pipelines reached 4 million tons of oil versus 45.6 million tons in 2011, 50 million tons in 2010 and 50.5 million tons in 2009. Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline carried 3.1 million tons versus 38.3 million tons oil and 38.2 million tons respectively.

The pumping via main gas pipelines reached 2.1 bn cu m against 18.7 bn (+7.8%) in 2011, 17.3 bn in 2010 and 11.6 bn in 2009. Export via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline totaled 434.7 million cu m of gas versus 4.5 bn, 4.9 bn cu m and 5.2 bn cu m respectively.
